| I got sprayed with a can full of stuff from hell today. It was for the reserve police academy I'm attending, and I hope I never have to do that again. It was pretty crazy, quite painful, and somewhat comical all at the same time. I've never had so much snot or thick spit come out of myself at one time. Yeah... it was crazy. Afterwards, I went home, washed my face, then Rachel and I got some Chinese. We watched a movie, then watched some Winter X-Games. I shaved and showered - which was fine with my face, but reactivated the stuff in my eyes! Then we went to the school play (Kari Day, you are amazing!!!). Next, we went bowling at Warsaw Bowl with some friends. The smoke there caused my eyes to start-up again. Then we hung out at Taco Bell and talked (fellowshiped, lol). After about an hour at T-Bell, we went to my place. Jordan Richards, Dan Wallace, and Dan's room mate, Ryan, all wanted me to handcuff them using cuffing techniques... so I did. I'm now going to try to sleep for as long as I can, lol. Night... | | |
| For all my peeps who want to go to my swearing-in ceremony for the WLPD... it's been postponed again. The system is on overload right now, and I have to wait some til another Reserve Officer finishes his training. Once one of the WLPD Reserves finishes his training, I'll be able to start. So... I'm gonna have to be patient. I'll let you guys know ASAP when my ceremony date will be. | | |
| My searing-in date has been changed! Actually, my sweet friends who wanted to see me sworn-in might be able to see it now! The catch is, it's at 7:00am, lol. The new date and time is Tuesday, January 24th at 7:00am. It's at the town hall building (same building as the police department) right next to the Winona Park "beach" area, Park Avenue. All this waiting is getting to me... I just wanna get on with the training!
I had an AWESOME time in Arizona! I did so much stuff there: worked the Block Party for the Fiesta Bowl, went to the DRIVING RANGE (Rach absolutely kicked my butt), saw "Fun with Dick and Jane", visited the gorgeous city of Sedona, took walks in the cloudless 70 degree weather, went to the lights display/show at a zoo (I think it was the Phoenix zoo, not sure), watch Rach play soccer in the cloudless 70 degree weather, drank JAMBA JUICE, ate In-N-Out, ate Quizno's, listened to plenty of Jack Johnson, etc, etc. So much more stuff... twas a really fun time. | | |
| I'm in Arizona right now! I'm visiting Rachel Wallace and staying at her fam's. It's been in the 70's outside and I've been wearing shorts and shirts. Right now I'm holding/playing with Rach's baby nephew, Xander - he is so adorable! Her 4 year old nephew, Tyler, is my new best friend... I don't think I'm coming back...
Rachel and I worked at the Fiesta Bowl Block Party. Made some doe-rae-me, witnessed multitudes of crazy drunks, I met and talked with a cool Tempe cop, etc... fun time overall. I didn't end up getting free tickets to the Fiesta Bowl, so we'll just have fun watching it on tv with the fam. Go Buckeyes!
Yeah, it's good to be back in the West- I don't think this is the last the West has seen of David Ruiz... (enter dramatic music)

| I went snowboarding with Tim Devlin yesterday for the first time in a couple years. It was great! By the end, I was carving with no problem - lots of fun, and I love my snowboard. All went well except I busted my right knee and hip. It hurts to walk or even move my knee - it's kinda swollen. I was getting off a lift and lost my balance, my legs went different directions... the rest is history. My butt's a little sore too...
Firearms qualifications for the police was fun. I love my gun and got used to the 45-caliber kick-back. I tied for second place in the final round with the ever-consistant Andrew SCHMIDTY! Congrats to Adam Ferguson for placing first! He kicked all our butts and got basically 99.9 %. I think it's funny the top three of our class were Campus Safety Officers! lol. Overall, I feel much more confident firing my weapon. I guess that's somewhat important if I'm gonna be a cop in a couple weeks. January 10 (when I get sworn-into the police department) is coming quickly. You're all invited, but it's at 7am! lol.
So I'm having to rest my leg and sit around a lot today and probably a couple more days - not fun! But I'm definitley looking forward to spending Christmas with Beka and New Years with Rachel! I hope everyone's having a great break!
